Louie Awards Cards Nominated:

In our excitement at being announced finalists for this year's LOUIE Awards, we'd like to share with you our cut-out cards that were nominated! Shown above, our greeted Snowman card is a finalist in the Christmas / Holiday ($3 & below category). 

Our beautiful Spring Potted Flowers greeted card has been nominated for the Easter ($3 & below) category, and Lucky In Love was chosen as a finalist for the Valentine's Day ($3 & below) category.

Louie Awards Finalists!

The Greeting Card Association just released the list of finalists for the 21st Annual LOUIE Awards! We are SO excited to announce that Paper House is nominated for 3 awards, in the following categories:

Christmas / Holiday / Seasonal ($3 & below)

Easter ($3 & below)

Valentine's Day ($3 & below)

According to the Greeting Card Associations' website:

"The LOUIE Awards represent the greeting card industry's highest honor for creative and publishing excellence.

Officially known as the International Greeting Card Awards Competition, the LOUIEs are named after Louis Prang, the German-born Boston lithographer credited with the birth of the U.S. Christmas card in the 1870s.

The  prestigious LOUIE awards recognize the most outstanding cards marketed in the U.S. during the previous calendar year. Sponsored by the Greeting Card Association, the competition is open to all domestic and foreign greeting card publishers.

The LOUIE award winners are announced each May at gala in New York City."

Last year, Paper House was announced as the LOUIE Award winner of the Easter ($3.00 & under) category for their cut-out greeting card "Bunnies."

Spring is ahead, and there's no better way to celebrate the planting season than with Paper House's On the Farm collection! Above is a single page layout showing the joys of country life and nature's abundance. The full photographic Field of Hay Paper (P-0401E) provides a beautiful background for this series of pictures. And the 12" border from the Cardstock Sticker (STCX-0094E) works perfectly to separate the page horizontally! We accented  the page with other stickers from the cardstock (there's 17 in all; what a value!) and used the title to enhance the journaling.

When life gives you Spilled Paint . . .

. . . make a lake! Okay, not quite the old "When life gives you lemons adage," but we thought it appropriate for this recent creation in the world of Paper House!

One day (and we won't name names) the creator of "Lake Jo Ann" had been painting and had forgotten to close the gallon. The result: A light blue puddle across the middle of a dark grey rug. Well, try as they might, the stain would not come out... So the creative people here at Paper House came up with another ingenious solution. Why not turn this misfortune into a creative endeavor?

And thus was the beginning of Lake Jo Ann.

The people of Paper House rejoiced, and soon began decorating the newly found body of water with a variety of readily available desktop items. First a duck appeared. And then a few rocks and a pony.... And now, you see it as it lives today. A fully inhabited diorama, complete with a glass display case in the middle of the floor of the office.

 

So next time, when life gives you lemons we say, "Get Creative!" Break out of the box and try something new. Sometimes the little accidents are simply a way of testing your imagination and challenging your mind!
